Thanksgiving-3

You guys have been incredibly helpful and the advice about what to ask Santa for is invaluable.  Lucky for me, because my Santa is a super good listener and he brought my Christmas present early.  I love that man!  He gave me a Canon 7D!

It has been glued to my hand for the past few days. This is one of the first pictures taken with the camera.  I can’t take credit for it, because my friend (who is almost as excited about this camera as I am) was in charge of pictures while I was cooking the bird on Thursday.  The only post processing applied to this pic was a bit of sharpening in Lightroom.  I’m so excited about the color and clarity.  ISO 800 and not a bit of noise.  He used the 50mm f/1.4 and got fabulous depth of field.

Here are some items I learned about from you guys that are going on my list:

  • April and Sammie – Hoya close up kit.  Says April, “it is three lenses that are put on like filters.  They do amazing macro lens work for only about $50.”hoya
  • Tracy, txmom2many – Lightscoop - bounce your on-camera flash just like the big guys do with their external flash.  Avoid harsh shadows and the direct flash white-out effect.lightscoop
  • Irene – 10-22 lens – yes, I would like a wide angle on of these days.10-22
  • Laurabattery grip – makes shooting vertical shots just as easy as the horizontal ones.  Get a new shutter button and controls in the right place, plus an extra battery to boot.canon battery grip

The, ummmm, good thing about photography is that there’s always one more thing to save for!  Santa never needs to say that I’m hard to buy for. . . .

Wow!!! How awesome! Of course the equipment doesn’t guarantee fabulous photography…but it sure can help! Can’t wait to see what you’re able to achieve with your new camera and of course all the helpful tools you’ll be inspired to create and share with the rest of us:)

Do you not LOVE your 7D??? I bought mine the weekend before last (I couldn’t hold out for tax season unfortunately) and all I can say is WOW. I guess my XSi taught me how to be a photographer, but this 7D makes it look easy. I could go on and on about it, but that’s not what you want to read!

I would really love to have the 10-22 wide angle that Irene mentioned, but I don’t see that happening. Instead I am hoping my family will buy me books. I could really benefit from understanding PS4 a lot better because I just don’t have the lingo down yet:)

What a fun contest…and what would we do without wish lists?!?! Not like my Hubby ever buys anything on it, but I always keep it ready, just in case :)

Nothing much on it, but MAN! What I would do with that stuff if I actually had it! Good luck with your Christmas shopping, and thanks SO MUCH for this site and for all of the priceless information!
