Take the Guesswork Out of Sharpening Your Photos

Top 10, I Mean 12, Methods of Sharpening Using Photoshop Elements

by Erin on December 6, 2008

There are a few things to keep in mind to improve sharpness in an image:

  • If one of the methods below doesn’t work, try another, or even a combination of them.
  • Except for the Camera Raw adjustments, always sharpen last.
  • When sharpening, always view your picture at 100% zoom to get a good look at how well the sharpening is working.
  • Avoid over-sharpening, which creates halos and graininess and also takes away the sweet softness of your kids’ skin!
  • The settings in the tutorials below are just starting points – you will probably have to adjust them somewhat to get the best results in your images.

Follow these links to 10 12 ways to sharpen photos using Photoshop Elements.
