Selection Mask in Photoshop Elements
I got so excited about my last post regarding the red Layer Mask Overlay in Photoshop Elements that I decided to share a similar tip about selections.
When you are making a complicated selection, switch over to the Selection Brush Tool (if you’re not using it already). It is hiding in PSE under the Quick Selection Tool (right click on the Quick Selection tool). Or, press A once or twice for a short cut.
Change the mode in the tool options bar to Mask and everything you have not selected will turn red. This really highlights rough edges and missed spots.
Why doesn’t this work with all the selection tools? Does anyone know how to make it work?
Selection Brush Tool in Photoshop Elements
While the Selection Brush Tool is active, stop and play with it for a while. This is one tool that I don’t use enough. Use it to paint over anything you want to select. Releasing your mouse and painting over additional areas automatically adds to your selection, unlike other selection tools. Note that you can change the size, hardness and and type of brush to use.
