Results of the Clickin’ Moms Contest!

Remember that contest I was running on Digital Photography for Moms during June & July?  If I referred 500 new members to Clickin’ Moms, I was going to earn this beautiful new camera and give one of the new members $150!

 

 

Well, 217 readers signed up with Clickin’ Moms thanks to this campaign.  I am sorry I didn’t win the camera and get to give away $150, but I am incredibly proud of the response to the contest!

I hope you new members are all learning from the Clickin’ Moms forum and that you are making some extra income from their AWESOME affiliate program.  (Bloggers hoping to make a bit of extra money, take note!)

I didn’t win the camera, but I did receive a 20% commission on the subscription fee of every new members who signed up.  I’ll continue to receive those commissions every month or year when those memberships renew.  I also won some fabulous gift cards as well.  Enough to buy back to school clothes and take care of many Christmas presents too!  So thank you all for participating!

By the way, I’m not telling you this to boast or because I like talking about money.  One of the reasons behind this new website is to help everyone have a great blog and to earn extra money from it – if you want to.  As a stay-at-home mom, I try to bring in extra income for my family or a night out with the girls.  Even if you’re not a SAHM, I’m guessing that you wouldn’t turn down chance to make a bit of money while working for yourself!

Contests to Increase Readership or Income?

You know, Kendra over at Clickin’ Moms runs a great program and it’s worth joining just to learn how she runs it and manages her affiliates program.  I would guess the contest she hosted easily generated between 1000 to 2000 new members for her at $6 to $8 per member per month or so.  And the contest was certainly an income generator for me and some of the other affiliates.

So, what about you guys?  What do you think about running contests on your blog?  Have you ever hosted one?  Has it increased your readership?  Earned you any money?
