Kaleidoscope’s overlays are different from many of the textures out there because they introduce light into the colors and patterns usually applied by a texture. If the grungy or vintage look isn’t for you, Kaleidoscope just might be what you’re looking for.
These examples from the Supernatural collection remind me of light reflecting off a pool.
I think my favorite product from Kaleidoscope,however, is Light Play.
I love this set for adding a bit of bokeh or sun flare where I couldn’t get it on camera.

These videos are a super learning experience – it really goes above and beyond the “paste the texture and change the blend mode” basics.

Keep in mind that textures are not application specific. You can use them whether you have Elements or full Photoshop. Textures and overlays are actually just image files that you lay right over the image you’re editing.
