In Photoshop Elements, using textures and overlays is all the rage these days. But to call Patti Brown’s Kaleidoscope collection merely “textures and overlays” is a huge oversimplification.
You will want these products after reading this post. But enter the contest before you buy! Patti Brown will give 10 complete sets of her collection to Texas Chicks readers. Details are at the end of the post. And, next week when the winners are announced, Patti will provide a 30% discount code for those of you who didn’t win.
Patti Brown calls Kaleidoscope a collection of color and light. That is a perfect description. You can use her textures and overlays to:
- add a basic texture to your images
- hide a distracting background
- add depth to a flat or boring background
- add a color wash or enhance colors
- vignette
- add Bokeh effects
- add rays of sun
- add sun flare
- anything else your creative mind can think of – the options are infinite
Check out Patti’s work here – my photography doesn’t do these products justice.
And, even if you don’t have any of her products (yet), you should look at her video tutorials. She had several great suggestions for applying textures and overlays that I’ve never thought of.

Another teacher and I have started a new adventure. We began capturing memories about two years ago and just fell in love with the art. We just love these overlays and textures and know our customers will love them as well. We are continually trying to improve our products and prints. Your product is definitely an improvement.
