I created action sets so that they sort into their own groups in PSE. Makes them easier to find but the installation process is a bit different.

It must just be me, but there was a 2nd XML “PW Vintage” in Set 2 instead of “PW Warmer”. I figured it had to be “PW Warmer” so i just changed the name and added it into the XML files. It came through fine other than it shows up in Set 1 instead of Set 2. I’m not complaining though!!! I’m just so happy that they are in there at all!!!!! Thank you!!!

Andrea: I assume you are a Mac user because I noticed the same thing. You can change the wording in the .xml code. I’m not a programmer by any means but I’ve had to change these before while installing other actions. If you open one of the .xml file for a PW action in set 2 (for example Dim The Lights) and change it so that it says PW Warmer instead of PW Dim The Lights and save it as PW Warmer.xml, I think that should solve the problem.

Hi Erin, I have been anxiously awaiting this announcement/unveiling and stalking all three sites on a regular basis waiting for the release. I followed the instructions and my editor will now not open (after renaming the OLD file) and is giving me a windows exception processing error. The organizer works fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Elements 8. It still won’t allow me in. Any suggestions? Thank you so much for converting these actions for us to use…cannot wait till I can get it working.

I just downloaded it for PSE6 and can’t wait to use them. I do have a question about the other versions. I am planning on upgrading to PSE8 in the next few months or so- do i have to re-download that version or will it continue to work from the PSE6 version?

I was so excited and thought the directions were super easy to follow but apparently I have done something wrong. Was I supposed to paste them into Photo Effects as a zip folder? When I open up my photos in PSE 5.0, it says the actions are in there but they aren’t showing up. I shut the computer off and restarted it, like the troubleshooting directions said.
In Photo Effects, it says I have frames, image effects, and both of PW’s zipped folders.
Any help you can give me, would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks so much!

Okay, I think I figured it out, I tried to do it first as a zip folder because whenever I tried to just do the folder it said I had to confirm Encrytion Loss (I have no clue what this means by the way) and then “Do you want to copy this file withou encryption?” And when I put yes on each action the actions then showed up. Haven’t tried it out yet, but hopefully it is working. Sorry, saw I was supposed to ask questions in the forum. Thanks again! Will be back, hopefully without questions!

Hello, I’m new to your site (from PW). I am using a Mac, PSE v 8.0, and I am trying to install the actions. I get to Library–> App Support–> Adobe–> Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 and after that all I see is “presets”. Can you help me out?

I’ve installed mine on a Mac (V 6.0) but it’s basically the same. Be sure to go to the Library from the Mac HD not through your home folder. There are 2 different Library’s and I had to find the other too!
So it should be MacHD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Photoshop Elements > 8.0 > Photo Creations > Photo Effects

Alissa, I’m having the same issue that you initially had… I read thru Carla’s reply, and I’m still not able to get this fixed. I am going thru Mac HD, and it still goes to Presets…..
Can you maybe walk me thru the process you went thru??

Another suggestion that I could make is to make sure that you aren’t going from MacHD > System > Library. You need to go MacHD > Library.
If that doesn’t help then let me know which PSE version and which Mac OS you are using. And I’ll see if I find something else to suggest.

I’m pulling my hair out!!
I’m on a macbook pro…have followed every step correctly as far as I can tell. Everything happens as you say it should even saying “rebuilding contents and effects” when I open PSE but nothing is there.
I do notice when I look in the photo effects folder the PW action sets are a folder instead of a file like the other actions….help!
I’m not sure if this is your problem but, each file in the PW folder needs to be pulled over to the Photo Effects folder individually. I installed mine on a Mac so I might be able to help you. If the above didn’t help what version of PSE do you have?

I emailed Ree on Saturday about this problem. Looks like she’s been reworking her website a bit, but it’s back up this morning and I’m still getting the 404 error. I know she’s busy, so waiting to see what happens in the next few days/week.

I watched the videos for windows, but there wasnt one for Mac. I tried uploading it (it doesnt come as a zipped file…or at least I dont have to manually unzip it) I open the folder copy and paste all the files into photo effects. Then I go back to the eo_us thing and it doesnt have the thing I am supposed to erase (at all…not even from when I renamed it after uploading some coffeshop files)
Then I open up PSE and it never loads anything (loaded all the coffeeshop freebies though) and I cant find the files anywhere (the coffeeshop ones show up just fine though)

Hi! I have downloaded the files copied and pasted them into photo effects & renamed the file and they are not in my PE9. Any ideas? I can see the zipped file in the photo effects file so I am not sure why they are not showing up in PE. Thanks for your time! You are awesome!!

I CANNOT install the actions on my Macbook. I have Elements 9, and I don’t have a photo creations or photo effects folder. So frustrated.

Awesome tutorial but I can’t seem to get the actions to show up in PSE 9. They just don’t show up in the drop down menu of Effects. I followed the directions exactly, and all went according to the tutorial, except for the part where they show up on the menu. Thanks for the info and the help.

I’ve been using the free PSE 6 actions from here and a few other places for months now. I opened a photo in PSE 6 today and they are no longer available in my Effects palette. I haven’t changed anything or downloaded anything new on my end. I have tried deleting .db3 files and letting Photoshop rebuild. Rebooted, etc. Nothing has worked. Can anyone help me fix this/tell me why it happened.
