Photoshop Elements Class – Beautiful Image from the Last Session

The Photoshop Elements from A to Z class that met on Tuesday covered lots of territory.  It actually lasted nearly an extra hour over what we had planned, and consequently, I have a severe case of laryngitis.  But the students learned tons and I had a ball.  Here is just one before and after example of the images that we edited together.

Isn’t it beautiful?  It was taken by Melissa, a beginner in the world of PSE who wanted to find a consistent workflow in Elements and learn how to make her photos POP.  I’d say we accomplished that!  What do you think?

We used, by the way, the Sunlight overlay from Kaleidoscope’s Light Set to add those lovely beams shining over the subject’s face from the top left corner.  Other than that, we didn’t use a single action – these edits can all be accomplished using the tools that you already have in Elements.

The students also learned:

  • the layout of the PSE workspace, how to adjust it, and which tools are most important
  • how to adjust exposure
  • how to correct white balance
  • adjustment layers – why, when and how to use them
  • layer masks, oh yes, layer masks
  • using textures and overlays
  • create a romantic soft glow like we used on the image above
  • enhance photos with other creative effects

The last  Photoshop Elements classes of the year (both Elements from A to Z and Actions from A to Z) are evening classes next week.  Add them both to your shopping cart and use coupon code IWantTwo to save 20% on registration for both.  You can also sign up for the same classes in January and the discount code applies for the January classes as well.

Wouldn’t an  Elements class be a great gift idea for those of you who have photography goodies on your wish lists?  Send Santa that coupon code!
