Lightroom Presets aren’t something that I’ve used a whole lot in the past. But Nichole V recently ran a big sale on her presets, and I thought I’d give them a try. Her photography (especially with off-camera lighting) is jaw-dropping. Part of me was hoping that some of that talent would rub off on me if I bought one of her products. . . .
I have to say that I’m liking the Lightroom presets a lot. I’ve discovered one (Midtone Boost from the Proofing Collection) that is very similar to one of my favorites from MCP – the Magic Midtone Lifter from Bag of Tricks.
Of course, the Presets don’t work in Elements, so if you are a die-hard Elements user, you’re lucky to have Bag of Tricks.
One thing I like about Lightroom presets is that they teach me tricks about Lightroom that I probably wouldn’t have tried on my own. (I actually first became interested in actions because they taught me so much about PSE!) Nichole’s Midtone Boost pushes settings to extents that I wouldn’t normally have approached, but it works!
And from her Color Set, I love NV Faded. Here is the before:
And the after:
So if you’re a Lightroom user interested in presets, Nichole V would be a good vendor to try out. Each collection contains well over 20 settings – more than I’ve been able to try yet. Nichole V just release a new free holiday card template on her blog too – even if you’re not a Lightroom user, check out the card. It’s beautiful!
