Fun Bokeh Toy

You might remember my post about trying to rig shapes on the end of my lens to create bokeh.  I put a lot of time into my contraption.  Not long after, I found this handy dandy kit that has everything ready to attach to your lens with a rubber band.  No work involved.

Couldn’t be easier.  And it works well too.

The Bokeh Masters Kit includes lots of disks punched with shapes.  You mount these discs into a soft plastic frame attached to your camera lens by a rubber band.  And, there are plenty of unpunched disks for customizing unique shapes.

The instructions included with the kit are detailed and easy to understand.  I would emphasize that you want to shoot using a large aperture on a lens with a smallish filter size.  I took the above pic on my 50mm f/1.4.  The disc mount would be too small for a lens with a larger filter size like the 24-70 f/2.8, for example.

Do you have a lensbaby?  Amazon has a similar kit for you.

My holiday cards this year will feature bokeh hearts or stars.  That’s all I know about them so far, but I’m glad to have made a little progress!
