Fireworks Photos

by Erin on July 6, 2009

I hope everyone’s weekend was as great as mine!  Did you take many pictures?  I took tons and just wanted to share these with you.  I cropped them and added touches of Clarity, Vibrance, Saturation and Sharpening in Lightroom.

4th of July 2009

Exposure:  F/10 for 1/6th of a second. 1000 ISO.  On a tripod.

It took me lots of shots to get the right settings on my camera, so I’ll post some of the EXIF data with these shots.  Next year, remind me about this post so that I won’t have to experiment so much with shutter speed!

4th of July 2009-4

Exposure:  F/10 for 1/3rd of a second. 1000 ISO.  On a tripod.

I especially like these reflection shots .

4th of July 2009-2-2

 Exposure:  F/10 for 1/3rd of a second. 1000 ISO.  On a tripod.

Back to the daily grind tomorrow.  Everyone have a great week!

The reflection ones are really unique! I’ve not been brave enough yet to try fireworks photos…they intimidate me for some reason:) Maybe next year….

These are so cool, I especially like the reflection ones. Next time try lowering the ISO and increasing the shutter speed, this will give you nice ‘trails’ on the burst (I found that tip here: http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-photograph-fireworks)

OMG, I LOVE LOVE LOVE those pics. The 2nd one is awesome. Mine didn’t turn out but then it was all rainy & drizzly. I tend to baby my Canon 40D (for me this purchase was a lot of money) so I didn’t even drag out the tripod. Thank you for the data…… I’m so saving it into my MS OneNote. :-)

Wonderful Images! Isn’t it fun to be able to capture them. This is really the first year that I truly liked the way mine turned out. You can check them out here…

Thanks again for sharing these and the settings you used. That is always extremely helpful!

Nice job! my fireworks shots came out with the “trails” as well. They looked cool, but I didn’t know how to correct it and actually the GET the right shot! LOL. maybe next year!
