ColorInc contacted me a couple of weeks ago and offered me a gallery wrapped canvas to review.
The timing was great. I have wanted to do something with this pic for a long time now as a decoration for my daughter’s bedroom. So, let’s just say that ColorInc didn’t have to twist my arm much to accept their product to review.

Everyone knows what gallery wraps are, right? Your picture is printed onto a canvas that is wrapped around the sides of the canvas frame. That means that your picture actually wraps as well. This is an absolutely stunning treatment for many images. And, you don’t have to buy a frame, which is always a bonus.
ColorInc’s turnaround was very quick. I had my completed print within just a few days of placing my order. And the quality is amazing. The colors are true, the canvas is wrapped tightly and there is a wire across the back for hanging the print.
Compared to another gallery wrap I printed somewhere else, the canvass seemed just a bit thinner and tighter, and looked and felt smoother. Less of the canvass texture showed through, and the corners were wrapped much more neatly. I definitely prefer the ColorInc version.
The image I had wrapped was challenging from a print perspective. I used CoffeeShop’s awesome Vintage free action for Photoshop Elements, plus a texture. Textures and effects can sometimes be difficult when you print them, but if you have the right effect and the right printer, the look is stunning.
And, I absolutely love that the bottom corners have rubber feet to keep the mount in place once you hang it. Half the pictures on my walls are crooked at any one time. I don’t get it, because I don’t dust that much. Anyway, I was very excited to see those rubber feet!
ColorInc has an order processing program called ColorInc ROES. The first time you order from ColorInc, you install this program onto your computer. It was an easy install. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to navigate the program, but once I got the hang of it, everything flowed quickly.
After importing your images into ROES, you choose the size and type of prints you want. This ROES system would be ideal for professional photographers because you can process multiple orders for multiple clients and package the prints in “boutique” packaging. However, it’s great for us amateurs as well.
Another thing I really like about ROES is that it helps you estimate which part of your image will be wrapped around the sides. My last gallery wrap printer didn’t have this capability. This is important because, for instance, wrapped ears and foreheads probably isn’t the look you’re going for. ROES grays out the edges of you image that will be on the sides of your canvass – definitely make sure that you’re ok with these parts of your image wrapping.
One thing to keep in mind – if you vignetted your image, you might want to increase the size of the vignette so that it covers not just the sides but some of the front as well. Otherwise, it won’t really be noticeable or effective.
Aside from gallery wraps, ColorInc also offers a wide variety of other products – standard prints, albums, templates, greeting cards, mounts, UV protective coating, color corrected printing and 12 x 12 scrapbook size pages.
