Install and Run CoffeeShop PowderRoom 2 Action
- If you don’t already have CoffeeShop PowderRoom 2, download it. See these instructions for installing actions in Photoshop Elements 4, 5, 6 & 7 on Vista and XP if you need help.
- Open PSE, and open a portrait that you want to retouch.
- Make sure you are in the Full Edit workspace (you should see something like the following image near the top right hand corner of your Elements workspace).

- Look for the Effects Palette, which is usually on the right side of your workspace. If you can’t find it, go to the Window Menu and select Effects. In older version of PSE, this palette might be called “Artwork & Effects”. (Instructions for accessing installed actions in your specific version of PSE are on the installation help pages.)
- Press the button near the top of the Effects Palette that says “Photo Effects” when you hover your mouse over it. Make sure that Show All is showing in the drop-down filter list.
- Double click on the CoffeeShop PowderRoom 2 thumbnail to start the action. You should see this message: “Welcome to CoffeeShop PowderRoom 2. Just press continue and let this action run. Once it is finished you will see no changes until you make adjustments.” Read the message, digest it, and believe it, then press Continue.
- After clicking continue, the action will copy your image and create the layers needed to enhance your photo in the copy. Don’t be concerned that your photo looks unchanged. You have to tell PSE how much of each edit to apply, and where to apply these edits. Your portrait won’t be retouched until you do so. You will know that the action has run because your Layers Palette will now look something like the following image. (If you can’t find your Layers Palette, go to the Window Menu and click on Layers.)
