As installed, PSE 8 (like all recent Elements versions) opens to a welcome screen which gives you the choice between starting in the Organizer or the Editor, plus a convenient place for Adobe to upsell other products. Many of us start solely in the Editor or the Organizer and don’t need that extra step.
In fact, if you’re as impatient as I am, you don’t WANT that extra step!
It is possible to shave off a little time from the PSE opening process.
Do you see the little box that the arrow is pointing to in the top right corner? The one that took me 3 months to find? Click on it, and this is what you’ll see:
Selecting the 3rd option will still display the welcome screen, and it opens the Editor at the same time. X out of the Welcome Screen and you’re ready to Photoshop.
Some of you might remember the shortcut I published last year about opening PSE 7 directly in the Editor. I don’t recommend using this method with PSE 8. While it works for some folks, I’ve heard horror stories about it causing Elements re-installs for others.
