2 Quick Lightroom Tips

Edit Multiple Photos at the Same Time in Lightroom

A reader asked how to edit more than one photo at the same time in Lightroom.  This capability is very handy for many things, especially when you’ve taken lots of pictures in similar lighting conditions and need to make the same white balance or exposure adjustments.

Sounds like most of us are used to making adjustments like this in Adobe Camera Raw, where you are looking at one photo, highlight others from the bin on the left, and make your adjustments which will be applied to all highlighted images.

However, this process is a bit different in Lightroom.  You start with one photo in the Develop Mode.  Make all the adjustments you’d like to that photo, then press Control +Shift+C.

This window will open:

LR Copy Settings 2

Check all the types of adjustments you would like to apply to additional photos.  Note that you can copy the settings for just about any Lightroom adjustment here, from White Balance right down to the Vignette.  And, unlike ACR, it’s very easy to apply only certain adjustments to another image.

Next, type G to return to the Grid. Highlight the other photos you’d like to adjust, and type Control+Shift+V to paste these settings onto the other photos.  That’s it!

Lightroom Tutor for the IPhone

Do you have an IPhone?  Check out this cool app called LR Keys.  It’s a way to learn the short cuts in Lightroom in by playing a multiple choice trivia game.  It’s kinda fun, if you’re a nerd like me!

Thank You Thank You!!! I’m not picking up the LR interface as quickly as I did pse…or probably it’s just hard to get used to a whole new set of tools. I’ve experimented very little in LR with my free trial so far but this tip has been a HUGE help! I need every tip I can to do less editing, more shooting:)

“A reader asked how to edit more than one photo at the same time in Lightroom.” You’ve shown how to edit one photo, then copy the edits to others?

Have you never heard of Auto Sync mode?
