2 Awesome Sales Right Now! Lightroom and Kaleidoscope

Just a quick note to tell you about two awesome sales going on right now.

BIG EDIT:  A friend just told me that B&H has Lightroom on sale for $169!  That’s an even better price.  Don’t bother with all the splash stuff below!

Lightroom Sale for Elements Users

When I opened Elements last night, that accursed splash screen opened.  It actually had valuable information this time, however.  Adobe is running a sale for users of Elements who are ready to upgrade to Lightroom.  You can save $100, which is big!

I couldn’t find a working link to give you, however, so I think you need to click through via the splash screen.  It gave me a discount code (SLT1001PN).  I don’t know whether that is user-specific or not.  I went directly to Adobe.com and tried the discount code that way, but it didn’t work.

How do you access said accursed splash screen if you have disabled it?  Click on the House/Home icon at the top right corner of your Elements workspace.

When the splash screen opens, the Lightroom ad might or might not be showing.  There are left and right facing arrows at the top right corner of the ad area.  Scroll through until you find something like this, then click away.

Note that you can download a 30 day free trial too.  Several folks have signed up for my Lightroom class before they purchased to help them explore the trial.

This is a great price on Lightroom, and I can’t tell you enough how well Lightroom and Elements work together.  If I had to choose, I would buy Lightroom way before I would ever consider  upgrading to full Photoshop.  If you really want to get a handle on organized photos and an efficient, intuitive, easy-to-follow workflow from import to photo correction, this is the way to go.  You can open photos from LR directly into Elements if you need to add special touches or get more creative.  Honestly, I don’t even have to take most of my photos to Elements anymore.

Kaleidoscope New Products and Sale

Kaleidoscope released two new texture sets today.  Thanks to Patti Brown, I had the privilege of testing both Imagine and Eternal last week.  I was the most unhelpful tester a texture creator can have, because I didn’t have one piece of useful advice for Patti on how to improve these textures. They are beautiful.

Here are my favorite before and afters that Patti created.

The amazing thing about these two examples is that the textures were applied to unedited images.  Now, that speaks to Patti’s photography, of course, as much as the quality of the textures.  But you can see what the textures do to the colors and vignettes – gorgeous.

Imagine and Dream cost $29 each, but Kaleidoscope is offering an introductory bundle price of $49 for both of them.  In addition, you can save 25% off your entire purchase by using coupon code “light”.  That 25% discount applies to all Kaleidoscope’s products.  As Patti says, “May you enjoy many hours of color and light!”

I can’t find the add for the $100 off. I have Elements 7. Your splash screen indicates you have Elements 9. Possibly the offer is only available to Elements 9 users?!?!?! Are there any Elements 7 users who have received the promo ad?

I actually had a mailer from Adobe with a coupon code before May 16th for $200 off making LR 3 only $99. Thus I don’t think this helps anyone know because I don’t have the code anymore and it is past May 16.
